For anyone who follows Ghostbusters News on social media, you know we are always looking to highlight the history of Ghostbusters, and in today’s post, we’re doing just that, diving into one of the lesser-known behind-the-scenes moments from the film’s original production period.

While Googling “Ghostbusters wrap party” typically brings up a gathering held in November 1983 atop Gozer’s Temple, a detail we even erroneously claimed happened ahead of the set’s inevitable destruction, it was actually a celebration marking the kickoff of the Los Angeles leg of production. The true wrap party would come later, in February 1984, when the cast and crew gathered to celebrate the completion of principal photography.

Helping bring renewed attention to the event is Billy Vera of Billy Vera & The Beaters, who served as the evening’s musical act. In a recent social media post, Vera shared an image of an invitation from the wrap party, writing, “Many thanks to the fan who sent this old invitation to the wrap party for Ghostbusters, and we played!”

Seeing the tickets again clearly struck a chord, with Vera also reflecting in the comments, “Wow! I remember this well.”
