With the New Year ushering in another round of streaming-rights reshuffling and following recent reports of Ghostbusters films moving between platforms, the latest update affects the animated side of the franchise, as Extreme Ghostbusters is no longer streaming on The Roku Channel in the United States.

Late last year, Roku surprised fans by re-adding the late ’90s animated series during the Halloween season. At the time, all forty episodes of Extreme Ghostbusters were made available to stream free with ads, marking another return for the show after previous stints on the platform.

While Extreme Ghostbusters no longer appears in The Roku Channel’s catalog, the series remains available for digital purchase through Amazon, and for those who prefer physical media, a DVD set containing all 40 episodes [BUY NOW]. We should also note that The Real Ghostbusters continues to stream on The Roku Channel, with 116 episodes from the show’s original 1986–1991 run available free with ads.

Serving as a direct continuation of The Real Ghostbusters, the 1997 series picked up years after the original team saved New York City from ghosts, ghouls, and one very large marshmallow man. With most of the classic crew having gone their separate ways, Egon Spengler remained behind to teach paranormal studies, guiding a new generation of Ghostbusters—Eduardo, Kylie, Roland, and Garrett—as they faced everything from ancient demons to returning familiar threats, alongside Slimer.
