Chicago to Celebrate Third Annual Harold Ramis Day

Chicago will once again pay tribute to one of its most influential comedic voices, as the 3rd Annual Harold Ramis Day Celebration returns on Monday, February 2.

The free public event begins at 3:00 p.m. CST at Harry Caray’s, located on Navy Pier in Chicago, Illinois. This year’s celebration features a new crossover theme, as while the event coincides with Groundhog Day and honors the film of the same name, which Ramis directed and co-wrote, the 2026 festivities will also include Animal House, further celebrating Ramis’ broader comedic legacy as a co-writer on the landmark comedy.

Several Animal House cast members are set to appear, including Tim Matheson, who will serve as Master of Ceremonies. He will be joined by Peter Riegert, Mark Metcalf, James Widdoes, James Daughton, and Martha Smith.

Throughout the venue, Harry Caray’s will be transformed with themed décor, music, and film-inspired menu items celebrating Ramis’ career. Guests will have the opportunity to pose for photos with Chicago Harry, explore film artifacts, and participate in a tribute honoring Ramis’ timeless impression on comedy, cinema, and pop culture.
