When it comes to official Ghostbusters LEGO releases, I will freely admit a bias, with the licensed Firehouse set from LEGO taking the top spot as an all-time favorite. It is a display piece that feels about as close to brick-built perfection as you can get.

Or at least, that is what I thought. On display this weekend at Atlanta Brick Con is a massive, 22,000-piece custom Ghostbusters Firehouse created by Bender Builds, and by the looks of this thing, it is enough to make even seasoned LEGO collectors do a double-take.

The crew from Beyond the Brick TV was on location, capturing an up-close look at the model and its upgrades compared to the official set. Among the biggest additions is a fully realized attic, complete with Slimer as a nod to Ghostbusters: Frozen Empire, along with a detailed basement housing the Containment Unit.

However, the most eye-catching enhancement runs through the structure as a light-up blast effect inspired by the first film, after Walter Peck orders the shutdown of the protection grid.
